False Gentleness as Cover for Selfishness

One reason we might have for desiring all lack of argument is a desire for our own calm at the expense of reconciling the cause of the noise.  This flesh is often accepted as though it were kindness and gentleness.

We can differentiate this by analyzing the cause of the disturbance.  It will be something that needs consideration or it will be sourced in flesh.  If it's sourced in flesh, then desiring its stoppage is not selfishness.  But be careful, because if this rule is accepted, a further assault from one's flesh could turn it around to promote a false negative as it insists that the only true cause for any argument is a fleshly cause.

Oh, how our flesh is against us, dear Christian.  Work through each encounter, especially with other Christians, to glean all the truth from it which can be backed up by Scripture.  You will have to search the Scriptures to find out whether what is said - whether harshly, strongly, spoon-fed or gently - is true or not.  Always accept the truth, and see when your flesh doesn't want you to accept the truth, and use those reasons that it brings up to you against it, knowing that it speaks falsely somehow in its reasons for you to disregard some truth that is said by both the Christian sibling and Scripture.  Sometimes, it's just a selfish desire to not wrestle with the flesh that drives us to too easily dismiss something - but *by any and all means* grab onto all truth wherever and however it comes, for your own sake.
