Almost-Christian Things Done for the Sake of Culture are Blasphemous
If they say they would have mentioned Jesus except for the culture, any amount that they get close to it with other words is possibly blasphemy, based on their reasoning. For instance, "..so be good for goodness' sake" in the Christmas song could easily go "..so be good for Jesus' sake". I had some trouble with this song as a child for this very reason. It hides Christ while communicating a helpful rule derived from the Bible, and, stripping Christ from that useful rule, it blasphemes Christ by demeaning Him. Almost-Christian things which strip Jesus from totally Christian things for the sake of culture are wicked works, and Christ's Church should reject them for our own consciences insofar as we are aware of taking our Master out of His own good things.
