Satanic Trickery in the Church

The following is adapted from Melissa Dougherty's YouTube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jtg4q84vBD4).

These areas of Satanic attack are in churches. It behooves us to point out the forms they take which are used to subvert Christians.

Law of Attraction (Name It and Claim It; Magic based on the faith that you will obtain whatever you visualize)

Oneness (Everything in the Universe is connected (aka "The Universe"); state of being where you live in the now, the moment, and there is no judgment, no fear and equality in all things; Oneness is taken to be the meaning of life; there can't be unforgiveness and strife, etc, because we are all Spirit, and the false belief in spiritual separation is taken to be the cause of all pain, poverty, war, suffering, and all negative, unwanted states of being)

Being One and being United is a Christian idol, having no judgments due to all-pervading desire to keep peace, to not be intolerant and to have unity. There is fear that any conflict is unbiblical in that it disrupts this unity.  However, Christ is The Truth, and we follow Him.  We have been commanded to teach, exhort and correct.

Supposed but false Scriptural evidence of Oneness is that Jesus said that He is one with the Father and one with the disciples.  Being God, He might fit this definition of Oneness as God is one, but His dictate to the disciples to be one as He and the Father are one is a type of unity that brings up wrongs in order to correct them and make us closer to that norm, not one that (like Oneness) says we should not bring up differences (because it breaks the faith of the other that they are magically unified so long as no difference is mentioned!)

Religious Pluralism / Ecumenism (All religions and worldviews are equally tolerable, acceptable, have their own truth; all paths lead to God.  Jesus Christ being the only Way to God is seen to be unloving and intolerant.)

The redefinition of Christianity from Paul's gospel (Romans 10:9, 10, 13 and 1 Corinthians 15:1-8) into the World's self-defined version of love and tolerance-at-all-costs is a basis of pluralism. Tolerance of falsehood is hateful and harmful. Christian salvation doctrine is particularly offensive in this way - it divides between Church and World.

Jesus did die for the sins of all people, but not all are saved.

_____________________________

Universalism / Universal Reconciliation (All people are saved; all go to Heaven/spirit world/the Universe/Source/Peaceful Bliss upon death, because God is love and wouldn't, therefore, do any other thing.  God has no wrath or justice.)

Some Christians don't believe in any negativity, wrath, etc., because they believe in Pluralism, that all are children of God.  We are NOT all born children of God, but some (the saved) become *adopted* children of God, by faith in Christ's great work and confession of Master Jesus Christ as per Paul's gospel.

Mysticism (Seeking Divine or spiritual experience and understanding about God through mystic practices.  Gnosticism.  Deep connection with God through specific, mystical practices.  It's connected with Oneness.  Spirituality through fleshly means; a lust for spirituality.)

Pastor Steven Furtick quotes the friar, Richarch Rohr, a mystic new-ager.  Biblical illiteracy opens us up to deception from the pulpit (Acts 17:11).

New Age and Progressive Christianity movements go hand in hand with a lack of desire to know the Bible.  Bible study is extremely lacking in churches.  The Bible has often been eisegetically, whimsically and haphazardly used to give weight to the doctrines of devils and human philosophies.  Richard Rohr and others write books which are looked to for answers over and beyond a search in the Bible for them.  Lust for power, experience, prosperity and spirituality drives these Spiritist ways (note that the people who pushed for the adoption of certain biblical manuscripts, which differed from the traditional manuscripts and are used for almost all new translations, were Spiritists).  Mystical interpretations of pieces of Scripture can seem to support these ways, but the Bible, honestly and directly read, understood and believed, never advocate them.

It would be like reading Romeo and Juliet and interpreting it as robots and flying monkeys that all live happily ever after.  A direct reading just doesn't allow that interpretation.  This could only become reasonable in a situation where a teacher claimed to read and understand the work for those who had never read it; the hearers would be believing the teacher instead of believing the declarations of Shakespeare's work.  If they did read it - in it's archaic language, and even if they didn't totally understand - they would see that it is far different from what was presented.  Similarly, preachers are guilty for false preaching, and church-goers are guilty of not applying Acts 17:11 to their own hearing of the preacher.

People think that when they hear Jesus talked about with kindness and Scriptures quoted, then it's already solidified to the point that they don't need to read the Bible for themselves! They don't think that they can think for themselves or understand it as well as these pastors who are already telling them what they like to hear.  Reading the Bible is for more than knowledge of doctrine, though - it is to go back again and prove what you thought you knew, it's to correct us and to teach us righteousness!  We have relationship with God by reading the Bible, because we get to know Him, especially when we see what He has done under both the former and the present contracts with humanity (that is, God displayed mercy and wrath openly in the Old Testament, and He now displays total mercy for awhile and complete wrath at the end of this time when Jesus is calling out a people from the World for His name).  The Bible is alive and it has power to separate between joint and marrow, between soul and spirit, and it discerns the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Hebrews 4:12).

We are being tempted towards a change of gentleness and kindness into blanket acceptance of all kinds of evil, and Jesus' teaching that there is no difference to those who are in Christ is being changed into the lie that we are literally a single being, along with the elements of the Universe.  One day, the elements will melt away.

2 Timothy 3:13-17 - "But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."
