The World has Changed the Definition of 'Lie'
The very definition of "lie" has been obscured in the World, which seems to define it as "hiding truth", when the definition truly is "speaking or writing falsehood with a desire to cause the listener or reader to believe that falsehood". But consider how our Master Jesus Christ purposefully hid truth, even by His action.
One time was on the occasion when He cleared the temple with his whip and was asked about the authority He had to do that. He said, "Destroy this temple, and I will raise it in three days". The context was set, but He used words to refer to something other than the obvious context, but His words were later remembered and understood after His resurrection (John 2:19).
A second example is when Jesus was walking with His disciples after His resurrection and made to continue on further, but they invited Him in (not knowing who He was) to eat with them and stay the night there. Some false worldly definition of "lie" would have us believe that His pretense to go further was a lie.
With Christ's example in these things, we are certain that His action to signal something He wasn't really going to do and His use of words to refer to a context other than the obvious one, even with His knowledge that the listener would believe that the obvious context was the referent, we know that the definition of "lie" does not lay in those things, because Christ is The Truth. Christ didn't desire that the listener believe the false context - He intended belief of the context He meant, though they didn't understand it until later.
The definition of "lie" relies on definite statements about specific things and not the more general aspects that the World has expanded the definition to encompass. I guess that the reason the World has expanded it could be two-fold: One, because changing in any way the definition of "lie" is satisfyingly Satanic to the World, and two, because an expanded definition gives the lying World lee-way to attempt control over those who desire to maintain the truth at the level of detail exemplified by the difference between the false and the true definitions.
