On Mixing World and Church - Christian Rock
The dividing line between the Church and the World is belief that Jesus died for our sins according to the Scriptures, was buried, God resurrected Him on the third day according to the Scriptures and He was seen by many witnesses afterward, and everyone who believes these things and calls on the name of the Master for salvation by verbally confessing Master Jesus will be saved! The only thing in there about sin is that Jesus conquered it! See 1 Corinthians 15:3b-8 and Romans 10:9, 10, 13. After salvation, the way to be more righteous is to believe and think about the resurrection (Romans 10:9b-10a). In our same Master and Savior Jesus Christ, we live under the law of the Spirit of Life and not under God's written ordinance, the 10 commandments or the law that says rap is stupid and un-Christian... because the 10 Commandments are simply things that have been superceded by the Spirit of Life's law, and that last one is human philosophy and strays from anything biblical. You decide whether you believe the totally finished reality of the Bible or not. Don't make things up and call it Christian, because I'm sure you don't want to be attacking Christ with artificial, vain philosophies. Learn to separate true evil from normally useful things, and remember that fear is not part of love.
That being said, there is a useful point about those who are ridiculous and how negative an impact some of these things have in the eyes of the World. When the Church purposely refuses to tell the gospel to the World whom they are serving lunch, the Church - it seems to me - starts to look like a bunch of waiters, and the reality that sin leads to eternal conscious death isn't properly communicated. I think that type of Christian believes they are saved because of their own brilliance or sensitivity or the false-humble attribution of those things to some other sinner who led them to Christ, but they - I think probably explains their free lunch but no free gospel attitude - don't believe God calls, predestines, .. glorifies and all, and that salvation is His work, those believing the work of and confessing Master Jesus doing so as an outcome and not a proper cause of salvation, and this, I think, makes the Church and Christ, Himself, look weak and unappealing - all because they don't want to follow the truth about Predestination and they seem to have something to prove to Calvin (even though Paul mocked Christians who said, "I am of Paul, I am of Peter, I am of Apollos..", and whatever they did say).
There's a reason to be wary of mixing Church and World, but not every admixture is on the useless and evil side of things. Remember Resurrection Band (REZ) - they had a proper ministry for people already deeply into rock music. Nothing is wicked (I'm paraphrasing Paul - try to believe what you understand of it), just not everything is useful.
