An Adulterated Version of The Second Coming of Christ
From the Comments at https://www.ucg.org/the-good-news/seven-prophecies-that-must-be-fulfilled-before-jesus-christs-return
Below are some comments taken from a webpage of United Church of God - a heterodox denomination. Notice the weird ideas these people openly communicate to each other. These ideas will probably be promoted even more in the future. Which Scripture passages defend against them?
1a) "Jesus is secretly here as a plain man who strives for nothing but a lack of celebrity. The passage about him being seen upon his return like a lightening bolt is a metaphor. Ignore these troubled times, because real reality is 'love everyone's neighbor, worldwide' in order to create your own hope for humanity. Separating between people is evil, based on the mind and emotions that we don't need anymore and are growing out of."
1b) Notice that Jeanette #1 gives pushback about Jesus' humanity, and she says He is beyond humanity.
1c1) "'Unconditional Love' is the key. Survival tactics, command and control, ego and fear tactics are wrong for this new age. Jesus is already on Earth (and has been; see 3b). Jesus will guide humanity to the great transition (like ascension). We won't want to crucify Jesus this time, because we will get back the DNA that was stolen from us and become sane and good and be in the creator's image once again. Our current 5 senses are a trick by the current rulers, who are dismayed are our reclamation of our original DNA. Jesus' guidance of this transformation of ours is something that will happen quietly and not by physical wars and death, but it will happen through the heart-based wars that are being fought for each human, leading through a dark night of the soul to a realization that we are God and Jesus is our example of how to behave well as God. Peace."
1c2) The poster tried to edit his message, but he accidentally reposted, so we can see that he removed the stuff about DNA, including a change of "the full glory of the original creators image" to "the full glory of the original creator", signifying that he takes "original creators image" literally concerning DNA and covers his conception of our own glory by this newly recovered DNA with a concept of God's own glory by shifting the modifier "original" to point at "creator" instead of "image". He also removed the line about going through a great trial to wake up to the God-self with Jesus as an example.
1d) Jeanette #2 gives pushback about being taught by angels instead of strictly by the Bible.
2a) "Does anyone have a short list of candidates for Jesus? How will we recognize him, or will it just be obvious?"
2b) "The second coming will be obvious, according to the Bible." The Rapture is confused for the Second Coming.
2c) A pivot back to the Second Coming seems to answer the confusion that it is the Rapture. "We don't need a short list, because Jesus will *become* obvious [he will reveal himself already on Earth]". "Humanity will begin to see the end of the age of Satan and the beginning of the Kingdom of God. It will be a time of phenomenal destruction, yet a time of righteousness and justice. It is called a time of fear and trembling and a time of rejoicing" (from the blurb to this commenter's message, "Both Sides of the Trumpet", found on the ucg.org website). It seems that this commenter, Skip Miller, a Jesuit by training, is looking for humanity to transform itself into a worthy receptacle for Jesus' return. Also, from his blurb on "Who will welcome Jesus Christ back to earth?", "Miller asks, 'Who will welcome Jesus Christ back to earth?', then answers it with many scriptures that cite, the promise, perfection, patience, gratitude, peace, growth, and ultimately becoming like Jesus Christ." Without listening to the message, it's not possible to absolutely prove whether he say "becoming like Jesus Christ" to mean self-God or the final state of the ultimately saved, when our bodies are transformed to be like His body, when we see Him as He is at the Rapture. But, regardless of this man's actual thoughts, it becomes apparent that the idea exists that we need to become good and push Satan out (another message by Miller) in order to prepare the Earth for Christ's Return.
3a) "No one can kill the antichrist, because Jesus kills him when He returns. So, don't plot to kill someone you think is the antichrist."
3b) "Jesus died some time in the 40 years after His crucifixion, but he taught reincarnation, like John the Baptist was Elijah, and Jesus existed before Abraham. His soul has been reincarnated many times in the last 2,000 years."
Commentary) This idea that we will regain stolen DNA to become like God combines in modern times with the technology we have to do it. The coronavirus vaccine can act as a testbed for mRNA technology, for instance. The idea that the Second Coming of Christ will be a quiet event, without any war, and that Jesus will humbly emerge as a super man is a fine-grained picture of antichrist, who will endeavor to follow the pattern of Christ (as a man of peace at the beginning and then as complete monarch during the second half of his political presence). The drive to become good in order to prepare the way for one of Christ's reincarnations to publicly emerge can only be a surface deep goodness, but it makes us prideful - even with a false humility - and it turns actual salvation on its head. Instead of Christ coming back with aggressive destruction of all His enemies to save those with true humility who rely on Him to save and transform to be like Himself, humanism endeavors to recreate our bodies first and to become good by adopting the philosophy that makes any division among people to be the only evil. This is the religion of The Man of Sin. Consorting with Babylon for self-produced gain disregards the real Christ in lieu of our own version of Him.

I have been under the instruction of angels and from what I understand his return will be marked by nothing because he will be but a man of just as he was before. He will want for nothing. He will want only that which makes him seem as nothing in the eyes of men. The biblical teachings are metaphore for his message shooting in like a lightning bolt thru the soul. They have been instructing me in this message for humanity and it is one that I fear will once again cause the public to cry out for crusifiction. The teachings are the most difficult painful experiences I have ever endured but they must be done in order to see the light on the path. I have asked of our troubled times with fake news and the like. They have instructed me that there is but one true message. A message of love for your fellow man because therein lies the hope for humanity. ANY message that puts a wedge between you and your fellow man is one that consists of evil and is a primitive construct of the human mind that once served us well but now hinders our progression. We must cast off the shackles of evil that keep us bound to the earth as slaves to our own emotions. It is truely liberating.

He won’t be just a man as before. Nothing in the Bible says that. He is well past that.

Matthew, Your message is very correct in all respects. Unconditional Love is the ultimate key for those seeking Truth. There will be no room for primitive survival tactics of command and control or ego and other fear based tactics. All of it will be retired to the dust been of history for this cycle of humanity.
You are also correct about Jesus, he is here and has been here and will see the great transition or ascension of humanity to the end. Trust it will not be long before all is known. There will be NO Cruxifixon this time rest assured. It will not be the same playing field as before as humans will be released from bondage and step back into the full glory of the original creators image. We live in a hijacked human vehicle that was stripped down to the 5 basic senses by a non-consensual alteration to our DNA and that is changing rapidly and to the dismay of the current rulers.
All will happen and it will be a pretty quiet event and not of wars and death but wars are being fought right now in hearts of every human on the planet. And they will have a dark night of the soul but will awaken to the return of the God Self with Jesus as an example once again.
Peace

Are there any candidates in history or now that are considered possibilities for meeting the requirements for the return of Jesus? Any that have been close enough to be investigated? I'd like to investigate some myself if you have a short list that you would like to share. Also, how will I/we recognize Him when He returns? Or do you think it will be so obvious that it won't be an issue?

There is absolutely no way that Jesus could have returned without everyone knowing. Jesus Christ's second coming will be literally earth shattering! "The sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds with GREAT POWER and GLORY" (Matthew 24:30). This is not a secret event that one could miss - see also Revelation 6:12-17, which says, among other things, that "every mountain and island [will be] moved out of its place." Our Beyond Today TV program titled "Is the Secret Rapture Wrong?" makes some relevant points as well: https://www.ucg.org/beyond-today/beyond-today-television-program/is-the-secret-rapture-wrong

Hello Bob,
We have a new (and slightly shorter) update on this subject. You might want to take a look.
It's called "Seven Prophetic Signs Before Jesus Returns." But to your specific question: We
do not have a particular person in mind. I like your last sentence: He will BECOME obvious.

I hope you are not thinking of attacking someone you believe to be the Antichrist!
Since the Bible clearly says the Jesus will defeat the Antichrist, any previous attempt will have to be unsuccessful!

Jonathan Swift: Does the Bible say that Jesus will return or the Christ - the Lion & the Lamb - will return? Jesus son of Joseph died sometime in the 40 years after his crucifixion on Friday April 7, 30 AD. After a year, his bones were placed in an ossuary which was put in the Jesus Family Tomb in East Talpiot. The Messiah taught reincarnation (Matthew 11:14-15, John 8:58, etc.) and his eternal soul has been reincarnated many times in the last 2,000 years.
