Hebrews 10_26-31 - Don't be Afraid of Losing Your Salvation - Be Afraid of God's Hot Displeasure, Dear Christian

Hebrews 10:26-31 (NLT)
Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins. There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies. For anyone who refused to obey the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God’s mercy to us.

For we know the one who said,
"I will take revenge.
I will pay them back."

 He also said,
"The LORD will judge his own people."

It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

This is a fearful passage which some have used to great effect to discourage believers into continuing in sin as though there's no more hope for their redemption, or else to make those believers begin worshiping their own willpower to keep from sin or to adequately repent through sobbing and determination. God did not require those things as proforma responses - not PROFORMA. He said that kind of thing is what Esau did, and it didn't work!

Look closer!

God's Word says that there's not a Mosaic sacrifice to lean on for the sins committed by the born-again Christian, because the Law of Moses has been removed altogether. It does not say that Christ's sacrifice is ineffective for the salvation of those who know Him but who continue to deliberately sin afterward. It says that we who do that do not have any earthly remediation like they did in Moses' day. And it goes on to say that we're trampling God's Son and despising His blood. His blood made us to be separated from sin, but we are embracing it. Think of how God has dealt with sin, and realize that you won't skip out on being punished altogether even though you are saved!

That's MUCH better than what anti-Christs have taught about it. ..and look, dear, silly, little children, at what He says: Not only will God take revenge on "them", but He judges His own, too.. His own.
