Police Work Should Gain Less Sophistry and More Hard Evidence
When I was a boy, I worried that, due to psychological profiling, truths I spoke would be taken to be lies, and so I also thought that my worry made me look like I was lying when I told the truth.
Police who profile should learn to get physical evidence instead.
Since neighbors can know when something is going on in a neighboring house, the police can just stand there and know it to, and they will gain more hard evidence by doing this than they can get by falsely accusing everyone they interview.
That part of Miranda that the police know so well has not stopped them from subverting the law down in the very architecture of their buildings with interrogation rooms. If I have a right - not even a privilege! - to remain silent, why does the law attempt to crack that right as a matter of course in police business? There's a better way.
Cameras, legwork and simple observation, especially in trouble spots of both violent and white-shirt crime types, can gain hard evidence without the need of someone else to be there on the inside. Police should go out into the world and record their observations of it. Honest witnesses who come forth to testify should be a suppliment to the kind of hard evidence that courts require, so police should be concerned with obtaining it for maximum success. Otherwise, seeming to have success has seen to have driven cops to imagination when their hands seem to be tied from directly obtaining evidence.
If the testimony of someone who says they committed a crime is acceptable in court, then the testimony and the video, audio and picture evidence from a police officer whom the other cops observe never committing crimes should also be acceptable. If a cop sees a cop not reporting a third cop they both saw committing crimes, that second cop should go down as hard as the third and a little harder, because the lack of veracity in the police force subverts the usefulness of the police as a whole when cops are at work to directly gain evidence.
